Safety and accuracy — even in the most explosive environments
ATEX Zone 1 weighbridge – the ideal solution for weighing gas tankers
Our explosion-proof weighbridge for the safe and accurate weighing of gas tankers
In the gas industry, safety and accuracy are paramount. Our 60-tonne ramped weighbridge has been engineered to the highest safety standards to operate reliably in even the most explosive environments. The load-bearing section of the weighbridge is located within the ATEX zone, while the control electronics are positioned in the safe area. The truck driver can monitor the filling process via the EX-rated secondary display. The weighbridge indicator initiates filling via its 4–20 mA output and stops automatically once the preset value is reached.
EX Weighbridge
At a gas collection station we installed a surface-mounted, ramped, 60-tonne, 18-metre reinforced-concrete weighbridge for weighing during the filling of LPG tankers. The weighbridge is located in a Zone 1 area, so we applied a popular and highly cost-effective solution: the load-bearing structure is situated within the hazardous zone while the data-processing and control electronics are placed outside it.
The reinforced-concrete weighbridge is made from special spark-proof, oil- and condensate-resistant dolomite concrete and is fitted with top-quality, laser-welded Italian Bilanciai CPR-M C4 Ex load cells.

The truck driver can monitor the filling process via the EX-rated secondary display routed into the hazardous zone.
The main indicator, Zener barriers, switch and optical converters are housed in a 600 × 800 waterproof junction box located outside the hazardous zone, in the safe area.
Several communication ports on the DD700I main indicator are utilised.
Via the 4–20 mA output the indicator initiates the filling process and — taking into account the preset filling limits — carries out filling automatically.
A PC connected to the indicator via Ethernet processes the weighbridge data and provides the user with statistics, reports, tables, graphs and weighbridge tickets using our in-house Porta software.
